WHAT IS JIKIDEN REIKI?
Reiki is a Japanese healing art that was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century.
A reiki practitioner’s aim is to balance the ‘energy fields’ in and around your body.
Jikiden Reiki can help with anxiety and depression symptoms.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR FIRST SESSION
In your first session, you will need to fill in a medical form and I will ask you a few questions about your lifestyle. This information will help me decide how to tailor your treatment.
You don’t need to undress. Just take off your shoes and lie on the couch. I place my hands on a client’s clothed body. I normally start the session by applying Reiki to the head for a good length of time, and I will then move my hands to other parts of the body, keeping them in position for as long as needed.
I sometimes end the session stimulating your blood circulation with specific movements along your back and legs. This is called the KEKO technique.
A Jikiden Reiki session is a very personal experience, and it is often said it brings on a deep feeling of warmth, comfort, and relaxation. On some occasions, you may become quite emotional.
On a physical level, Reiki can help relax stressed muscles, ease pain, and accelerate the healing time of bones and wounds, burns and bruises. On a mental and emotional level, anxiety can be reduced, increasing a feeling of well being.
REIKI AND CANCER
Some people with cancer say they feel better after reiki as it helps them to relax.
Reiki cannot treat cancer, but it can help individuals coping with the side effects of chemotherapy.
It is also beneficial for anxiety and general well-being for people who are caring for anrehto person with cancer.
Reiki is sometimes used in palliative care, especially in hospices.
